What is Your Favorite Success
Story?
I reported on a wildfire in evening wear. I was on my way to a charity event, when the call came in from my newsroom that a nearby wildfire was quickly spreading and threatening homes. I had to shift gears and rush to the scene. Running in 3-inch heels as I sought out interviews and video, I was able to turn three live reports to let our viewers know what they were facing. It was early on in my career in Northern Michigan, and it was the first time I felt I was making a difference by providing a service to the community. The experience taught me the importance of being able to think on my feet, and it gave me the confidence I needed to believe in myself as a solid reporter.
What Are Your Hobbies and
Interests?
I've been practicing yoga for three years and I don't know what I would do without it! It's a great balance between exercise and relaxation that makes you feel ready to take on whatever comes your way. I love to try new restaurants as a way to spend time with family and friends. Otherwise you'll find me planning for dream vacations I'm not sure I'll ever take, reading up on the latest trends, cheering on the Chicago Cubs, or watching Mad Men, anything on HGTV or other reality shows from the good to the bad.
What is the Title of the
Last Good Book You Read?
The Help by Kathryn Stockett was the last book I couldn't wait to pick up and had a hard time putting down. I loved the alternating narratives from the three central characters. If I find myself caring about the story after one chapter, I know I'm hooked. I also enjoyed American Wife by Curtis Sittenfeld. I don't mind a lighter read as long as it is well written. No "chick lit" for me!
Who Are Your Favorite Recording
Artists?
My music choices are pretty eclectic, ranging from indie rock to musical soundtracks. Guster and Madonna are my standbys. Right now I like Kings of Leon, MGMT and Band of Horses. I also enjoy a brooding singer/songwriter like Pete Yorn, Howie Day, Tori Amos, Ani DiFranco and Jewel.
Why Are You a Good Fit at
Tech Image?
It's truly a collaborative environment where everyone has ideas and no one hesitates to share them. It's encouraging to be among people who aren't afraid to consider something new or different. I'm looking forward to using my broadcast experience and skills to offer yet another point of view. |
